Practitioner Diploma In The Advanced Indirect Conversational Hypnotic Induction Techniques of Brooksonian Hypnosis
18 - 26 August 2012 – Roehampton University London

Accredited hypnosis training courses for trainee hypnotherapists, established hypnotherapists and health professionals
Trainer: Stephen Brooks
If you are a beginner our courses will give you a complete in-depth knowledge and experience of hypnosis and hypnotherapy, from the basics to advanced level, so you are able to work professionally and ethically as a fully qualified hypnotherapist. If you already have experience with hypnosis our courses will take you to a much higher level of ability. We will teach you things you would never learn from other courses and you will be more effective than you thought possible. We have over 30 years experience in teaching cutting edge Brooksonian and Ericksonian Hypnotherapy techniques and principles internationally.
About the Course:

Stephen Brooks is your personal trainer on this course and he is acknowledged as one of the world’s leading innovators in hypnotherapy and an expert on Erickson’s work. Stephen Brooks has worked as an Ericksonian Therapist since the 1970′s and as an Ericksonian trainer since 1984 when he first started teaching Ericksonian hypnosis courses at St George’s Hospital in London. He has developed his approach to such a high level that it is now known as Brooksonian Hypnotherapy, and this distinguishes it from the many dated Ericksonian training courses that these days proliferate on the internet. Brooks will cover a considerable amount of information on this course – so please check out the extensive syllabus down the left side of the page. He is well known for being able to teach advanced skills in an easy-to-learn way and at a pace that is suitable for everyone. His aim is that you graduate with a high level of comptencey and skill superior to most graduates of hypnosis training courses. His accomplishments over the years bear witness to this fact as he is solely responsible for teaching most of the “big names” in hypnotherapy today.
On completion you will receive “The Practitioner Diploma In The Advanced Indirect Conversational Hypnotic Induction Techniques of Brooksonian Hypnosis” issued by British Hypnosis Research. If you also choose to take our “Master Practitioner Diploma In The Advanced Covert Psychotherapeutic Strategies and Creative Interventions of Brooksonian Hypnotherapy”, which follows this course, you will then have the required experience and qualifications to practice as a fully qualified Brooksonian Hypnotherapist. You will also be able to apply to the UK General Hypnotherapy Standard Council for accreditation. Their accreditation is also valid in other countries.
We offer an intensive practical training for serious students of hypnosis, trainee and practicing therapists and professionals from the caring professions, so we do ask for your serious commitment to developing your skills. The courses teach basic and advanced hypnosis skills that you can apply immediately. No previous experience with hypnosis is required, although experienced practicing hypnotherapists usually make up about 30% of our students.
Who should attend
This course is open to anyone wishing to study Stephen Brooks’ approach to hypnosis. It will be of special interest to nurses, doctors, psychologists, social workers, NLP practitioners, trainee and qualified hypnotherapists, CBT practitioners, and health professionals of all disciplines. Prior knowledge of hypnosis is not essential. There is no pre-requisite training required if you wish to study this course as a stand alone hypnosis course, but if you intend to practice as a hypnotherapist you must also enroll on our “Master Practitioner Diploma In The Advanced Covert Psychotherapeutic Strategies and Creative Interventions of Brooksonian Hypnotherapy” which only runs once a year. These techniques are based on Milton Erickson’s original techniques now updated and modified for the 21st century. Our students come from a variety of backgrounds – NLP, psychology, counseling, medicine, nursing, therapy and hypnosis or are seriously interested in the subject.
Course Structure
The course is taught in modules and each module contains a lesson followed by a demonstration and an exercise. Each lesson is based on a technique, strategy or skill. Although students should also study the theory behind Erickson’s work this course is primarily a practical “hands on” training where students get to practice Brooksonian Hypnotherapy for themselves. You are encouraged to study the theory independently and we have set up a support system for students to do this and have set up a free online training support course for students to discuss each of these lessons. The free online training support course is also open to people not attending this course as we believe it is an opportunity for them also to participate in discussions about the benefits of Brooksonian Hypnotherapy.
Student Assessment
Many courses only offer a certificate of attendance for their courses. This course offers an accredited Diploma qualification and you will be assessed throughout the course on your ability to demonstrate the skills and techniques you are being taught. This is essential if you wish to practice as a fully qualified hypnotherapist.
Brooksonian Hypnosis
Brooksonian Hypnosis is indirect and conversational so allows you to employ highly effective hypnotic techniques conversationally and with compassion as part of your therapy or care work without any of the traditional drama and theatrics of the more direct authoritarian approach to hypnosis. With the indirect approach emphasis is placed on the client or patient’s ability to experience hypnosis for themselves with the therapist’s guidance. We believe this is a repectful approach to hypnosis as it reduces the client’s dependence on the therapist and empowers the patient rather than disempowering them.
Who created Indirect Brooksonian Hypnosis?
Brooksonian Hypnosis is named after Stephen Brooks who has devoted his life to studying the work of his mentor American Psychiatrist Milton H Erickson. Back in the 1970′s Erickson was relatively unknown, but back then Stephen Brooks was already studying his approach. Erickson subsequently became the most influential therapist in the field of hypnosis and Stephen Brooks became a leading expert on Erickson’s approach. Brooks was the first person to introduce Ericksonian Hypnosis into Europe and he subsequently developed it far beyond how Erickson used it. Brooks now travels extensively around the world teaching Brooksonian hypnosis courses. Milton Erickson pioneered the use of indirect suggestion, naturalistic trance techniques, hypnotic metaphor, pattern intervention, conversational hypnosis techniques and unconscious communication, and Brooks’ new innovative approach to hypnosis is recognised universally as the most effective and successful method for inducing clinical hypnosis. This is why British Hypnosis Research has been promoting and teaching if for over 40 years.
We hope you can make it to London this August 2012 as we only run this course once a year in the UK. Student Testimonials

“I am a psychologist and psychoanalyst in Paris (France) with a degree in Clinical psychology from the University of Paris. This is to acknowledge how much I have appreciated your 2008 Summer School in London. Your way of teaching is invaluable. You have summed up and compressed, without any alteration, Ericksonian learning in such a way that it now becomes quite simple to understand why Erickson was Erickson. But you went even further and added your own way of seeing hypnosis as a normal state of mind, a path to freedom and an understanding of Life and enlightenment. These nine days will stay in my mind for the rest of my life and I can never thank you enough for it. Keep spreading your teachings all around the world. We need you! Your students, will carry your light, by healing and teaching. I am proud to be one of them!” Daniel Goldschmidt, a Clinical Psychologist from Paris France.

“The teachings were bountiful; my fellow students committed, supportive and giving; the energy dynamic and the experience amazing! Much love from a very grateful heart to all of you, and especially to Stephen – a truly beautiful, compassionate and artistic teacher and phenomenal man – thank you !!!!!” Helen Braithwaite, a Hypnotherapist in Coventry England

“A huge huge thank you to Stephen for a fantastic hypnosis Practitioner course. We all learnt an incredible amount. I have all improved immeasurably over the last 9 days. I have attended a number of very good quality courses in the past and I can honestly say that Stephen is by far and away the most skilled, talented and compassionate therapist and teacher (even though he would never take credit personally for what he does!). If you are thinking of attending the course DO IT! It’s awesome.” David Godfrey, a Personal Trainer, Hypnotherapist and NLP Practitioner in London England
